West Marin House, Minimalist House Design with Glass and Wood in Walls by Fernau and Hartman Architects
West Marin House, Minimalist House Design with Glass and Wood in Walls, designed by Fernau and Hartman Architects. This of house is a gentle wooded slope that rises above a lake in northern California and see the light filtered through the canopy of the forest and the trees to the Coast Mountains beyond. Given a natural and very attractive, our goal was to design a building separated from his site, where internal and external distinctions are so fluid to become doubtful.
Environmental principles play an important role in the design. The thickness of exterior walls are straw bales. Thin walls are made of glass and wood to bring you the light and openness on the course and views beyond. The decisions of other materials, has contributed to the “green” nature of this project: concrete floors to achieve a thermal mass, and the house uses natural ventilation for cooling.
