Laneway House was designed by Superkul Inc Architect, located on a 40’x18’ lot, it is built to the property lines on 3 sides, with 2’ to spare on the fourth. Current zoning regulations don’t allow for additional openings in any of the walls, so the design strategy was to draw additional light, air and views from above. A light shaft topped by skylights runs the length of the west wall of the building, broken only by a courtyard on the second floor. The shaft brings light to the ground floor, and provides passive ventilation. On the second floor, a glass and wood wrapped courtyard separates the two bedrooms. From the courtyard, with its primary view to the sky, there is a small stair up to a roof garden. For further detail visit Laneway House Design by Superkul Inc Architect.

Private House, designed by David Chippervield Architect, located in Berlin, Germany. This house, organized around a south facing courtyard overlooking a large rear garden, is situated in a leafy suburb in the sout west of Berlin. Although designed to reveal distinct sequence of rooms and to forge a clear relationship between inside and outside space, it was the building’s material that became the foremost determining element in the architecture. Enveloped entirely in brick, this skin lent the house a physical solidity reminiscent of the early modernist houses of Erich Mendelsohn and Mies vander Rohe. The irregularity of this textured, hand-make brick finish also effect a powerful contrast with the smoothness and regularity of the steel-framed glazing, so that the house really expresses differences in its own materiality.

Here are pictures of Hinge House, bach house was designed by Maryann Thompson Architects. Hinge House uses a sloped roof “kit of parts,” to create a lyrical, wonderful home. The exterior form, made of cedar skin, is sculptural and dynamic, and interior spaces are soaring, lofty, and light-filled – quite unlike anything in the current prefab space. The “hinge” of the home, where the two living spaces come together, has the added benefit of creating a highly desirable outdoor living room, complete with an outdoor fireplace. The “hinge” is not just a tool for maximizing customization and spatial orientation – it is a fulcrum of activity at the heart of the home. For further detail visit Thompson Architects site.

Omaha Beach House, Holiday House was designed by Pete Bossley Architects, located in Omaha Beach. Materials were chosen to offer a sense of directness: concrete floor, pre-cast concrete wall panels, anodized aluminium joinery and louvres, stained plywood panels. The way natural light enters the house becomes important to enliven the materials and spaces, whether directly through the large upper level glazing, dappled by the adjustable louvres or timber screen, or through the milky white translucent glass around the dining area. A heightened awareness of shifting weather patterns arises from the play of light and cloud shadow on the interior surfaces.

Architecture and Home Design | Arras Hospital, New Generation of Hospitals with High Architecture by Groupe-6, in Arras, France

February 07, 2017 By: Jason Marie Category: Без рубрики

Arras Hospital, New Generation of Hospitals with High Architecture was designed by Groupe-6, located in Arras, France. Combining modernity and humanity inserted in a dense urban environment.

The primary preoccupation was indeed to optimise the relationship between the staff and the patient, serving and enhancing notions of caring, efficiency, welcoming and dialogue. A new bedroom organisation with bathrooms on the external facade creates more space, more efficiency and time spent with the patients. Logistics are maximised through NTIC, introducing the concept and reality of a networked hospital.

Transparent bridges connect the three main buildings ventilated with punctual green patios and water pools. Lightness, openness and transparency are accentuated by a flat roof floating over the architectural mass. Public and mixed-use spaces are generously distributed, filled with natural light, allowing interaction and dialogue, and reinforcing the definition of the hospital as a living space.

The Arras Hospital pays particular attention to environmental quality through a system of natural renewable energy – the double skin façade creates a ventilating buffer space between the interior and the exterior. Closed in winter, opened in summer, the louvers allow natural heating and aeration according to the seasons.
