Architecture and Home Design | Cutler Residence, Contemporary House Design by Murdock Young Architects

February 27, 2018 By: Jason Marie Category: Без рубрики

Description of Cutler Residence from Architects: Perched on a bluff overlooking Block Island Sound, the property is a flag lot at the edge of a new subdivision, bordered on three sides by water, wetlands, and woods. The client asked us to design a house with a minimal impact on the pristine landscape, maximum exposure to the views and all the amenities of a year round vacation home.

The basic requirements of each space were considered integrally with the effects of sunlight, breezes and views. The house was conceived as a lens, continually framing and magnifying the subtle changes in the surrounding environment. [ Murdock Young Architects ]

Lenovo Office Interior Design by Gensler Architects. In consolidating its North American offices into a single national headquarters, Lenovo wanted an environment that reinforces its brand attributes and personality. Gensler responded with a space that exudes innovation, imagination, entrepreneurial spirit and approachability. In two five-story buildings and one four-story building, open planning enhances communication with “touchdown stations,” team rooms, informal meeting areas and a central conference zone on each workplace floor. The palette is neutral — from natural stone to exposed concrete — to contrast the thematic graphics and nature imagery. The complex also includes a customer center, cafeteria, café/store, full conference center and auditorium, training rooms, product showroom and labs. [ Gensler Architects ]

Architecture of JetBlue Airways Terminal 5, JFK International Airport, designed by Gensler Architect. Located in Queens, New York. With its curved rooflines, JetBlue Airways’ first terminal responds to its unique location near Eero Saarinen’s historic TWA terminal. From a functional standpoint, Gensler designed the terminal to complement JetBlue’s business model. The 640,000-gross-square-foot, 26-gate terminal provides exceptional customer service, with a tailored plan for circulation and seating in the concourse. The ticketing lobby and holdrooms are sized as transitory spaces, while concessions areas are larger as JetBlue customers tend to buy food and drink before boarding. Wider space between gates allows JetBlue’s Airbus 320s to easily turn around, minimizing delays. [ Gensler Architect ]

Architecture of San Francisco International Airport, designed by SOM Architects. Located in San Francisco, California. This iconic structure creates a powerful identity for both the airport and the City of San Francisco. Its form and aesthetic stem directly from functional necessity—the roof’s wing-like form directly expresses the structural diagram of its bending forces. The building is the largest base-isolated structure in the world. [ SOM Architects ]

The Middle East Modern Art Museum was designed by UNStudio, located in Khor Dubai, UEA. First launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will be a celebration of the importance of Dubai Creek as a new cultural hub within Dubai as a global city. based on the form of a dhow, the museum holds a variety of spaces to exhibit Arts and Culture such as exhibitions, art galleries, leasable workshop spaces, auditorium, and amphitheatre for live performances and international festivals. In addition, MOMEMA offers a boutique hotel with 60 keys and a boutique retail promenade on the active Culture Village waterfront, as well as a high end signature restaurant on the top level, with 360 degree views of Dubai Creek. [ UNStudio ]

Maya Ubud Hotel and Spa, is Luxury Hotel and Spa in Bali, Indonesia. Designed by Denton Corker Marshall. Located high between two river valleys, Maya Ubud sits on a long peninsula of land, which slopes gradually before dropping off dramatically at the southern tip where the Maya Spa sits near a small waterfall on the banks of the river Petanu. Maya Ubud juggles with new and traditional concepts in its design: there are no intricate Balinese paintings, masks nor statues; instead, a deeper, Ancient Balinese concept is celebrated through its landscape and architecture.

Its siting is inspired by the prehistoric Balinese tradition of orientating the villages along the Kaja-Kelod sacred axis, linking the mountains in the centre of the island – the realm of Gods (Kaja) – to the surrounding seas where the demons are (Kelod). A ceremonial central spine follows the main ridge connecting the major public spaces such as the porte-cochere, lobby and spa. The ‘houses’ are then positioned on both sides of the village axis following the contour of the land. At Maya four parallel lines in the form of massive stone walls emphasise the main ceremonial spine. Modern functional spaces are free to slip in and out of these walls; some go further, hanging over the cliff in the case of the swimming pool and restaurant. Culture and heritage are celebrated wherever you look. The subtlety of this celebration is that it is not immediately recognisable to the observer. [ Denton Corker Marshall ]

Working all day make us tired, tense neck, especially when our work was not finished, or less satisfactory. Rest, go home is good choice and efficient way to remove it. Gathered with family, joking with the children, or be spoiled by a husband or wife. When we entered the house and greeted by cool and fun living room, it’s going to make us feel more relaxed. When we came home welcomed by our beautiful wife, or our husband, definitely very nice.

Tiredness and tense neck will be replaced with happy and laughter, that’s what we expect.

This A A house is located in Sao Paulo was designed by Andrade Morettin Architects. Description from Architects:

This is a residence embedded in an urban lot in the neighborhood of Morumbi, Sao Paulo. Through its implantation on the site, it seeks to leave its ground floor entirely free, giving continuity to the public space. To enhance this potential, the glass prism that serves as a “natural light injector” inside the house, is installed so that it can be lifted up (like a crane), completely freeing the entrance level.

This is Bowen Mountain custom home was designed by CplusC Architects. Description from Architects:

Conceived as a simple weekender, this pavilion house grew into something a lot more substantial. Landscaping, a pool, pool house and sauna were added to the original brief, with spectacular results. The house has a steel frame that was welded on-site prior to being shot-blasted and finished with a two-part epoxy paint system. This is one of the longest lasting corrosion protection systems available today.

New and recycled Australian hardwoods were used to frame the steel structure. Soft-toned grey steel used for the dramatically angled roof blends with the muted tones of the surrounding bush. Glass was used extensively throughout the home, with dramatic effect. The structure seems to almost hover over the site and indoor and outdoor spaces merge seamlessly.

Architecture and Home Design | gallery space

February 27, 2018 By: Jason Marie Category: Без рубрики

Designed by Make Architects, located in Wiltshire, United Kingdom. The Crescent House exemplifies how a novel form can fulfill the requirements of a brief better than a conventional box. As a shape, the crescent is ideally suited to personal living space, because it shelters and encloses while at the same time opening out and forging a sense of connection with the exterior world. The accommodation is formed by two nested crescents connected by a curving circulation and gallery space that runs the length of the building. The outer crescent contains bedrooms, bathrooms and private living areas and turns a solid convex wall to the nearby road, while the inner crescent is devoted to cooking, eating and relaxing. A full-height concave glass wall draws the early morning sun into the house and offers an uninterrupted prospect of the garden, while the arms of the inner crescent extend to frame the view, offering privacy and enclosure without confinement. See Other, by Make Architects.

Designed by Fernau and Hartman Architct, located in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, the site of the Caperton House transitions from rural road, across open meadow, to dense deciduous forest—where a south-facing promontory commands the Potomac River. Both rural retreat and gathering place, the house engages visitors with the site, the river, and the distant ridges. while including gallery space for a collection of West Virginia art. The building deploys local traditions, materials, craftsmanship, and practice. Local masons built the limestone ‘arms’ with native stone, local timber framers used state-grown oak, and a combination of metal and wood siding reflects indigenous building practice. The colorful palette ameliorates the bleakness of winter and helps buildings recede into the landscape the rest of the year.

The new west building alone will add 127,000 sq ft accounting for the new gallery space in 65,000 sq ft of daylit rooms. With galleries on the one storey above ground, operations and mechanical equipment will find their place below in the basement. 230 overlapping and angled anodized panels are used on the exterior and glass curtain walls define each of the five sculpture courts.
