Private Residence Design, Modern Home designed by Hotson Bakker Architect. Located in Vancouver, BC, Kanada. This private residence is an intended contradiction of dynamism and repose. The combination of steel and concrete offset with open, airy spaces creates a unique residence with a distinct Pacific Northwest feel. The home is characterized by many environmental features such as passive solar design, a clerestorey venting system and use of local materials. Okitu House, T-shaped Beach House, designed by Pete Bossley Architects. Located on a ridge above the east coast, this house has spectacular views from Poverty Bay right around to Tatapouri Point. This single storey house clings to the ground as it steps down the hill then as it reaches the edge of the ridge it opens out otwards the sea to become a grandstand for viewing.

Thorp Houses, Two Beach House, designed by Pete Bossley Architects. This project represents the rare possibility of designing two houses on adjacent sites. The buildings are similar in form and massing but differenet in plan and with subtle variations of materials and colour to offer individuality.

Peninsula Residence, House with Lake View, designed by Bercy Chen Studio, located in Lake Austin, Texas, United States. The project begins with a 1980′s home-builder house fronting on lake austin. The original design did not harness views to the lake and Mount Bonnell, nor did it respect the ecological sensitivity of its site. The challenge was to develop a sensitive and inventive result out of a pre-existing condition. Through the use of glass, steel, detailing and light the home has been adaptively reinvented. Reflection, translucency, color and geometry conspire to bring natural light deep into the house. A new solarium, pool, and vegetative roof are tuned to interact with the natural context. Exterior materials and refined detailing of the roof structure give the volume clean lines and a bold presence, while abstracting the form of the original dormers and gable roof. Further connecting the home to its site, the roof begins to dissolve where a glass clad chimney and slatted wood screen stand in relief against the sky. [ View Annie Residence by Bercy Chen Studio ]

Annie Residence, Beautiful House Design With Two Pavilions, designed by Bercy Chen Studio. Located in Austin, Texas, United States. The design was greatly influenced by different regions and cultures. Both the use of the roof as an outdoor living space and the shading devices are derived from Moorish architecture. The body of water and the spatial continuity between inside and outside was inspired by Asian architecture. while the structural transparency of the volumes and the minimalist aspect of the interior was derived from Japanese pavilions.
